The Crossroad is based on several Easter European fairy-tales, in which the hero reaches a fork in the road and has to choose between three possibilities – marriage, riches or death. The right choice is, of course, death, and the hero returns to the crossroad, writes ”I went there and did not die” and continues his adventures.
