The Seven Headed Dragon by Petre Ispirescu is a very interesting little fairy tale. There’s a man eating dragon, a band of princes and a fire that should not go out. The dragon is killed very fast, but the blood puts out the fire. Then the story is about the quest for embers, against a deadline, so Dawn, Midnight and Dusk get tied up to trees and time is stopped.
The illustrations were created for the Timemongers project, in the frame of the Helen M. Salzberg 2023 residency at the Jaffe Center for Book Arts.
